The Wheelwright is an independent non-profit museum. To continue its important work in honoring Native voices, we depend on your support. Each contribution allows us to build our exhibitions, support artists and community members, develop research and programs.

Your membership at any level comes with many exclusive benefits. It will be matched one-to-one by an additional gift to the Wheelwright Museum Foundation, our Endowment, which provides investment proceeds for our operations every year.
The annual campaign provides the museum with unrestricted resources and operating support. Therefore, it is critical to our budget, allowing us to use the funds to expand our capabilities, purchase necessary equipment, enhance our programming, and support our staff. You can maximize the gift if you have access to a corporate match option or make a recurring gift!
The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act includes many changes to rules which govern retirement plans. Regardless of whether you are now required to make minimum distributions if you are 70 ½ or older, you may directly transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA to the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, which is a 501 (c) (3) organization, as a qualified charitable distribution. The amount directly transferred will be excluded from the current year’s income for federal tax purposes and will count toward you minimum required distribution for this year if you are required to make one. It will not count as a charitable income tax deduction on this year’s tax return. A donor can make a significant contribution without reducing their assets during their lifetime by providing for the Wheelwright Museum or Wheelwright Foundation in a will. Bequests are deductible from an estate, so a bequest to the Wheelwright Museum can generate substantial estate tax savings.
If you are in the process of creating a will or trust and would like to include a gift to the Wheelwright Museum, we would be happy to help with suggested language and a description of how you want your funds used. We thank you for your consideration.
