Greetings from Santa Fe’s Case Trading Post!
It was a pretty exciting summer for us here in Santa Fe. SWAIA Indian market was well attended and it was a pleasant time to catch up and visit with old friends as well as make new ones. Thank you to all who attended our Wheelwright events, we really appreciate it! It’s been a few months since our last manager’s pick, but nonetheless here are some fantastic choices for September. We are fortunate to work closely with several wonderful artists who create special things for the Trading Post. Among this group we first have two beaded bolo ties by Teri Greeves. One portrays a Southern Pow wow dancer of Teri’s Kiowa heritage, the other depicts a flicker bird — gorgeous! Next is a selection by the respected jeweler Richard Chavez of San Felipe Pueblo. This group employs the wonderful use of stones and technical aspects that make Richards work highly prized, the bracelet is a small sculpture! We are pleased and honored to now carry his work as well as that of his son Jared. Keep an eye out for their work in the shop! Next in the lineup is pottery by Mark Tahbo, who was excited to present us with new styles such as figurative pottery (which I suggested he try). The results and warm tones of the firing make the pieces glow! Randy Brokeshoulder also stopped by with a beautiful pair of Mosairu Mana (Buffalo Maidens). The details are fantastic on this pair, which are sold separately. Last but not least, we have a beautiful bolo by the late Gibson Nez. This features a impressive turquoise stone set in heavy gauge silver chisel work, which he was known for. Running across his work is always special. Take a look at this group and please call us if anything strikes you. Thanks again!
