Friends Spring Fling at the Los Luceros Historic Property
May 22 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm$50
The 2018 Spring Fling will kick off with a tour of the historic property of Los Luceros that was once owned by Mary Cabot Wheelwright herself. The tour will be led by Marie Markesteyn, who has lived in Los Luceros and knows its history.
Afterwards, Norma Naranjo of The Feasting Place will cater a buffet-style luncheon. During the luncheon, we will be joined by Marie Markesteyn, Grace Valdez, Gilbert Vigil and others who have an intimate knowledge of the property and, more importantly, the people who lived there. We will be able to talk informally about their recollections and interactions with these folks from the past. Michael Miller, retired Director of Research and Literary Arts at the National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico, will conduct an oral history interview with several of the attendees.
After lunch, the Friends of the Wheelwright Museum will conduct an election of new officers for the Friends Board.
