Artist Demonstration with Master Katsina Doll Carver Kevin Pochoema

Meet virtuoso Hopi carver Kevin Pochoema and gain insight into the creation of his masterful katsina sculptures. Artist demonstration will take place in the museum’s classroom downstairs from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Kevin is from the Greasewood and Roadrunner clan, from the village of Bacavi on the Hopi Reservation. He was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, and would visit his grandmother in Bacavi on the weekends as a child. Kevin began carving along with his brothers as a boy. Since then, he has won many awards for his katsina dolls at shows and has been published in numerous books and magazines. Kevin Pocheoma now resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he continues to push the limits of his art.

Event is free; museum admission is free from our regular hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
