This is the annual meeting and fundraiser for Friends of the Wheelwright Museum. The annual Spring Fling will take place at the studio of Duane Maktima in Pecos, NM.

Duane Maktima is a Hopi/Laguna jewelry designer. Maktima’s work can be found in many museum gift shops and fine art galleries who represent the best in quality and spirit of refined Native American craftsman. Maktima creates work that live on as heirloom pieces for many distinguished patrons and collectors.
His work is the result of being an accomplished and award winning jeweler for more than thirty-seven year. The knowledge gained through those years is evident as his work presents a refinement only available by seasoned hands.
His mission has been to sustain integrity as a master craftsman/designer striving only for the best. Duane is deeply rooted as an advocate for the continuation and survival of the cultural arts within his Native heritage of pueblo people.
Duane was a featured artist at the Chesapeake Gallery during the grand opening of the National Museum of the American Indian (Washington, DC. 2004).
A graduate of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Ariz.(1981)-College of Creative Arts and recipient of two distinguished Alumni Awards—1990 “Jubilee Year” (100 year celebration) and 1999—”Millennia” (Year 2000-national celebration.)
