Learn and create with Master Silversmith Norbert Peshlakai

DAY 1 Friday, October 13, the workshop will be 12:30pm-3:30pm
DAY 2 Saturday, October 14, it will be held 10:30am-1:30pm.

This is a unique opportunity to create a personal bracelet under the tuition and guidance of master Navajo silversmith Norbert Peshlakai (Navajo). Norbert’s work was celebrated in a solo show at the Wheelwright Museum in 2018, and it known for his work that has a detailed and dazzling quality, achieved through stampwork. His distinctive style while achieving technical perfection is also underlaid with humor and word play. Recognizable figures include “Cowboy Slim”, however equally identifiable are the plants, animals and insects that he uses to construct seductive imagery. The Wheelwright is privileged that Norbert will host two separate workshops one on the afternoon of Friday 13th October, and one on Saturday 14th October in the morning.

During the workshop Norbert will give insight into his unique style of stampwork, through which he has created a rich vocabulary of images and geometric patterns, inspiring you to make your own.   Each workshop participant will be encouraged to explore their own imagination and skill in making their bracelet.  If you are interested in stampwork as a technique or wish to walk out with a bracelet you are encouraged to attend!

Enrollment is limited to eight persons.  All materials to create a bracelet are provided at the workshop.

Each session is separate. Each will be in the Wheelwright Education Room (lower level).

Enrollment is $65
