With a stunning display of pottery in Echoes: Selections from the Wheelwright’s Permanent Collection come see how it’s made with renowned potter Clarence Cruz (Tewa/Ohkay Owingeh).
Saturday, March 29, join us for a pottery demonstration in the museum classroom with Clarence Cruz. This event is included with museum admission. Pottery will be available for purchase directly from the artist.
Clarence Cruz/Khaayay (Tewa/Ohkay Owingeh) is an Assistant Professor in the Art Department at the University of New Mexico. He is also a traditional potter. In 2020 Cruz was a recipient of a Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellowship. In 2012 he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Allan Houser Legacy Award for his work continuing the living traditions of Pueblo pottery.
