WHEELWRIGHT MUSEUM JANUARY ’87 EXHIBIT: Santa Fe’s Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian presents the ATLATL sponsored traveling exhibit the WOMEN OF SWEETGRASS CEDAR AND SAGE… CONTEMPORARY ART BY NATIVE AMERICAN WOMEN. The multi-facet exhibit includes painting, weaving, ceramic work, jewelry, beadwork, photography, quiltmaking and basketry will continue through February 21st.

Santa Fe, NM … 2/1/87: The “Last Word”: A panel discussion among some of the artists and originators of the “Women of Sweetgrass Cedar and Sage” exhibit which currently is showing at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 1987, 8:00 P.M. The panel moderator, Erin Younger, formerly the director of Phoenix arts organization, ATLATL, will lead discussion on the exhibit’s significance as it finishes its two-year North American tour ….

Santa Fe, NM  — 2/1/87: A world premiere musical event featuring work by Native American composer, Brenda Romero-Hymer will be performed by the New Mexico Woodwind Quintet on Friday evening, February 20, 1987, 8:00 P.M. with a meet the composer reception immediately following. On Saturday, February 21, 1987 at 8:00 P.M. a second performance is scheduled for the general public with reception immediately following. The musical event appropriately planned in recognition and celebration of Native American women in today’s art world, brings to a close the Wheelwright’s current exhibit the “Women of Sweetgrass Cedar and Sage” … contemporary art by Native American women….
